Dr. Ali Al-Ghafri is academically qualified in his field, as he obtained a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Arizona in the United States of America in 1985, then he obtained a master's degree in electrical engineering (specializing in energy) from the University of Strath Clyde in the United Kingdom in 1989, and in 1993. He obtained a doctorate in the same field from the same university.
Dr. Ali Al-Ghafri has acquired accumulated experience in his field of specialization, as he began his professional career as an Electrical Maintenance Engineer in 1986, then held several positions in the Electricity and Energy Sector, including Director General of Electricity in 2001 until he served as Advisor to the Minister for Electricity and Renewable Energy in 2018
